Conservatory Training

"Kevin’s Conservatory has made a powerful difference both in my career and my life. I have learned to trust myself more, to really live in my body and connect to my centre. All of the teachers in this conservatory have a similar foundation from which they teach. The all love actors and are incredibly nurturing."

Conservatory Training with Artistic Director Kevin McCormick

2010 will mark the 16th year for these exciting training conservatories under the direction of Kevin McCormick with a Guest Faculty of experienced professionals. The conservatory training provides a unique well-structured training ground for actors. It is intense, demanding and concentrated. Some of the areas of training include: voice, speech, text, movement, scene study, improvisation, monologue work, audition technique, and introduction to clown.

The Conservatory addresses the actor’s body, mind, and soul in the work and is committed to developing actors in a non-judgmental environment where one is encouraged to be fearless and explorative. The day to day structure of the classes is designed to build in impact and is carefully crafted to help the actor explore, grow and build the necessary connections between subject matter to help create a fuller, richer, more dynamic and skilled actor. The format for the various conservatories is either in a one, two, four or eight week program.

Coming Summer 2011, the Actor's Tutorial will be launching a new initative "The Canadian Conservatory for the Development of Artists" and presenting the "Actors Training Summer Conservatory" in partnership with Hart House at the University of Toronto. Also coming in Fall 2011, the Actor's Tutorial will be launching a one year full-time Training Conservatory.
